Redesign of refrigeration plants for increasing energy efficiency
CSEES was appointed by MINUS40 to help with creating thermal models of operating refrigeration plants using monitored data and manufacture specifications to redesign the refrigeration plant. The aim of modelling was to achieve higher energy efficiency. The Thermal models were created in EES using Thermodynamic mass and energy balance as well as by using compressor tools such as Bitzer and Danfoss software modelling and Pack Calc Pro tool. Methods implemented included variable speed drive (VSD), adiabatic cooling, head pressure minimizations, and controlled methods for the staging of compressors.
